Daniela Pineda-Vizcaino, an international business and Spanish major, has been selected for the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) Global Leaders Internship Program. Pineda-Vizcaino will spend the 2026 spring semester in Washington, D.C., gaining experience in both congressional and corporate offices.

This program is a semester-long internship featuring placement in congressional and corporate legislative affairs offices. Students gain educational and hands-on experience with project-based public policy programs; attend professional development workshops; network with administration, congressional, corporate and nonprofit leaders; and are granted immediate membership to the CHLI Alumni Association. Students are given a monthly living stipend and are provided with housing on Capitol Hill.

"I chose this program because I really wanted to learn and gain skills from leaders in the political sector and business industry who are involved in serving the Hispanic community and other underrepresented populations," Pineda-Vizcaino said. "I will strengthen my understanding of public policy and advocacy while building my professional network."

Benefits of the CHLI Global Leaders Internship Program include gaining congressional and corporate public policy experience, professional development, earning soft skills via LinkedIn Learning, networking and building connections with administration, congress, corporate and nonprofit leaders. Students who participate in the program are also enrolled in the CHLI Alumni Association.

"I have never been in a program like this before, but as a student I am always open to learning," Pineda-Vizcaino said. "I am so thankful to Professor Luis Fernando Restrepo for introducing me to the program and supporting me with whatever I need. I can't wait to see what the next few months on Capitol Hill have in store for me!"

The CHLI Global Leaders Internship Program is held in both spring and fall semesters each year, and is open to sophomores, juniors, seniors and/or students within one calendar year of graduation. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.
