Faculty and Staff Invited to Join the Revised Career Everywhere Catalyst Course

Every day, U of A faculty and staff help students discover their strengths, overcome challenges and prepare for life after graduation. The Career Everywhere Catalyst course, offered through the Offices of Career Connections, helps strengthen that work by providing educators and student-support professionals with tools and strategies that help students connect their college experiences to future career success. 

The Catalyst course is part of the university's Career Everywhere initiative, which embeds career education and career-ready skill development throughout the student experience for all Razorbacks.  

Establishing a Career Everywhere culture is a pillar of the U of A's 150 Forward Strategic Plan. The effort brings together faculty, staff, advisers, alumni and employer partners to help students build the skills, confidence and professional awareness needed to thrive after graduation.  

The Catalyst course helps turn that campuswide commitment into action. Faculty and staff do not need to redesign a course, program or student-support approach to participate. Instead, the Catalyst course helps them connect career readiness to the excellent work they are already doing in classrooms, advising appointments, student programs and co-curricular experiences. 

The Catalyst course provides the tools needed to:  

• Connect classroom, program and systems learning to students' post-graduation goals. 

• Integrate career readiness into existing student learning experiences. 

• Use active learning and evidence-based practices that strengthen student engagement. 

• Expand students' awareness of U of A career resources. 

The self-paced course can be completed during any fall, spring or summer semester and typically requires five to 10 hours to complete. After completing career development foundational modules, enrollees will choose to complete either a Faculty Track (class-based) or a Staff Track (non-class-based). 

The course is open to faculty and instructors, academic advisers, student success professionals, program managers and any U of A employee interested in supporting student career readiness and post-graduation success.

Faculty and staff can also visit the Career Studio in CORD 127 from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 24 or Oct. 29 to meet with Erica Estes, associate vice chancellor and executive director of the Offices of Career Connections, to ask questions about the course, Career Everywhere and how they are incorporating career readiness into student learning experiences.
