New Payroll Schedule for Nine-Month Faculty and Graduate Assistants Begins

A new payroll schedule for faculty and graduate assistants with nine-month appointments takes effect Aug. 10, helping align pay with appointment dates and improving payroll processing.

Under the updated schedule, faculty and graduate assistants with nine-month appointments will receive an additional paycheck in mid-August. As a result, employees in these positions will receive 19 paychecks during their appointment period, rather than 18.

The change allows the university to pay employees based on time worked during their appointment period, rather than using the previous model of fixed installments. Total compensation is not changing.

Faculty and graduate assistants returning for the 2026-27 academic year will receive their first paycheck under the new schedule on Aug. 14 for work completed Aug. 10-14. Regular semi-monthly pay will continue throughout the academic year, with a final paycheck issued for work completed May 1-9, 2027.

No action is required from faculty or graduate assistants. Employees are encouraged to review their pay information and direct deposit details in Workday before the start of the semester.
