Alexis Lewis, the deputy head of the National Science Foundation's Directorate for Engineering, visits the U of A on May 21 to address changes at the agency.
The presentation will include an overview of the NSF's investments and merit review process along with updates on new organization and priority investment areas. Lewis will also discuss funding opportunities for all engineering researchers, including students, early-career faculty and institutions in EPSCoR jurisdictions such as Arkansas.
Lewis, who holds a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, has been with the NSF since 2014. As the deputy head of the Directorate for Engineering, Lewis is the second-highest ranking officer in the NSF division with a mission to enable "U.S. leadership in engineering and cutting-edge technologies."
Lewis will speak on Thursday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in Engineering Hall 209. Lunch will follow. The talk was organized by the College of Engineering's Transportation Working Group.
