Students interested in exploring research opportunities are invited to attend two panel discussions during Undergraduate Research Week, offering insight from both undergraduate and graduate perspectives.
Hosted in partnership with the U of A Libraries and the Honors College, the panels will take place April 21-22 in Gearhart Hall 258 and are open to all students.
The first session, "Starting Honors Research: Student Panel," will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21. Designed for students who are curious about research but unsure where to begin, the panel will feature undergraduates sharing their first-hand experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn how others got started and gain practical advice for taking initial steps into research. Bagels will be provided.
A second panel, "The Value of Undergraduate Research: Perspectives from Graduate Students," will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. This session will feature graduate students discussing how their undergraduate research experiences shaped their academic paths and prepared them for advanced study. Panelists will reflect on lessons learned, answer questions and offer guidance for students considering research as part of their education. Pizza will be provided.
Together, the panels are intended to give students a clearer picture of the research journey, from getting started as an undergraduate to pursuing graduate-level work.
