Flutist Jasmine Choi will be the headliner of the upcoming Music Monday Series at Faulkner Performing Arts Center this Monday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m. Choi, considered by the Korea Times as "the goddess of the flute," will be a part of this year's Flute Festival at the U of A, and the Monday concert will be a culmination of the weekend's lectures, classes and performances.
She and Cristina Ballatori, associate professor of flute, recently joined KUAF's Kyle Kellams in an interview discussing Choi's love of the instrument, performing her own composition at the Lincoln Center and teaching students of all ages about the flute and how to share that passion with those who might not know anything about the instrument at all.
Ballatori also discussed how she and her students dreamt big and extended the invitation to Choi to attend, not knowing if her schedule would allow her to be a part of the event, and how overjoyed they were when Choi accepted.
To get tickets to the Music Monday concert, go to tickets.uark.edu and reserve your seats there. General admission is $15, while senior citizens, faculty and staff are $10. Student admission is free, but students still need to use the ticket system to reserve seats. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
