The University of Arkansas held two commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 13, to celebrate more than 1,800 graduates of the 2025 summer sessions and fall semester.
Chancellor Charles Robinson delivered keynote remarks at the first ceremony, recognizing graduates from the Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences; the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Engineering; the School of Law; and interdisciplinary graduate students.
U of A System President Jay Silveria was the keynote speaker for the second ceremony, recognizing graduates from the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, the College of Education and Health Professions and the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
Chancellor Charles Robinson
In a speech titled "The Journey Towards Why," Robinson noted that finding purpose is an intentional journey rather than an automatic milestone. Highlighting key traits of those who find their "why," he encouraged graduates to think critically, have the courage to pursue paths that may not meet others' expectations and remain determined and resilient.

President Jay Silveria
President Silveria congratulated graduates while emphasizing the importance of showing gratitude to those who helped them reach this milestone, reminding them that their education carries an obligation to give back and make their communities better. Drawing on his experience as a lieutenant general in the U.S. Air Force, he urged graduates never to settle for past achievements and to remain prepared for moments of responsibility they cannot predict. Silveria closed by asking the class to reflect on a central question: "What are you preparing for?"
