Gabrielle Rancifer, a third-year U of A School of Law student, has secured publication in the Michigan State Law Review Online Forum for her law note, "Fake Goods, Real Harm." The piece discusses the need to include public health and safety factors in the extraterritorial analysis under the Lanham Act when counterfeit goods create unsafe health conditions.

"I am profoundly honored and grateful for the opportunity to have my law note published," Rancifer said. "This accomplishment reflects my deep commitment to the field of intellectual property and underscores the significance of rigorous legal scholarship."

Rancifer, a Note and Comment editor for the Arkansas Law Review, extended her sincere gratitude to article adviser, Professor Benjamin Brady, "for his invaluable support and guidance throughout the writing process. Professor Brady consistently challenged me to critically analyze the intersection between trademarks and policymaking from a normative perspective. I look forward to making further contributions to the field and actively participating in the broader scholarly community."

A Little Rock native, she holds both bachelor's and a master's degrees in journalism from Northwestern University. At the School of Law, Rancifer serves as a dean's student ambassador and symposium chair for the Intellectual Property Law Student Association. She has led multiple student organizations, founded the school's annual World Intellectual Property Day Symposium and directed the 2025 Delta Initiative pro bono trip as a member of the inaugural Student Pro Bono Board. She was also a member of the 2024-25 Travel Moot Court team that placed third overall and earned fourth-best brief in the Burton D. Wechsler National First Amendment Moot Court Competition.

Her professional experience includes operating her own notary and apostille business, clerking for Cascade Law Group and Hall Booth Smith, P.C., and externing with Chief Magistrate Judge Christy D. Comstock of the Western District of Arkansas. She recently worked as a summer associate with Kutak Rock LLP and will join the firm's Omaha office as an associate in Intellectual Property and Technology Transactions upon passing the bar.
